'The Chase' star had a hearty NZ welcome with a visit to Waitangi and All Blacks meet and greet

"An honour."

The Chase’s Shaun Wallace – aka The Dark Destroyer – has been exploring Aotearoa this month and made sure to stop at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where he got a mighty welcome with a haka.

The UK quiz legend is here for, well, a quiz tour that's raising cash for a bunch of Kiwi charities.

Sharing some snaps of his visit, the team at Waitangi Treaty Grounds wrote: “Unsurprisingly, he effortlessly tackled questions about Aotearoa and Waitangi from our kapa haka team and didn’t even flinch when the warriors came at him with their taiaha!”

"Shout out to our crew who shared their knowledge on Te Tiriti o Waitangi, giving him some key info, ready for his quiz night in Kerikeri," they added.

While in Dunedin, Shaun also dropped into Forsyth Barr Stadium to watch the first All Blacks and England test match.

"An honour whilst watching the game to meet the new New Zealand Coach, Scott “Razor” Robertson, Sam Cane, the 2023 World Cup Captain and Will Jordan, Top Try Scorer at the Rugby Union World Cup 2023," Shaun wrote. Of course, he had to throw those facts in there too.

"Just another day at the office for me," he added.

Now that his tour has all wrapped up, Shaun has helped raise a whopping $248,000 for charities in Aotearoa with his 'An Evening with Shaun Wallace' around the motu.

He got amongst a bunch of quiz nights with locals in Queenstown, Dunedin, New Plymouth, Hamilton, Kerikeri, and Auckland.

All the cash raised is heading straight to charity, including The Louise Davie Charitable Trust, I Am Hope, Gumboot Friday, and Hospice Mid Northland.
